LA VOLTA is a group of eight ore nine young musicians aged 10 to 18 formed at the School of Music in Reinach ( Basel-Country, Switzerland ). They play and sing a most varied repertoire ranging from dances and songs of 16th, 17th and 18th centuries to the internatio- folkmusic and todays popular music.

Since its creation in 1984, LA VOLTA has built a strong reputation in Switzerland as well as abroad, particularly in Germany, France, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Danmark, Luxemburg, Austria, the Czech Republik, Poland, Hungary, Russia and Canada where it has enchanted the reviewers as much as the audiences.The group has played in famous halls like the Konzerthaus in Vienna and Salzburg, the Hamburg Musikhalle and the Konzerthaus Budapest etc.

LA VOLTA has often been invited to several music festivals and specially guitar-festivals: Mikulov (Czech Republic), Esztergom (Hungary), Tychy (Poland) «Forum Gitarre» in Vienna, Bachgesellschaft Salzburg, Guitarfestival Berlin, «Welt der Gitarre» Leverkusen, Nürtingen,etc

Several CDs as well as many radio- and television recordings have helpt the ensemble to be recognised by large audiences.



the founder and conductor of LA VOLTA is known to the public as a lute player who played as soloist and with his partners Paul Esswood (counter-tenor) and Bernhard Böhm (Recorder & Traverso).He also toured often as a member of the orchestra «Concentus Musicus Wien» under the direction of Nikolaus Harnoncourt with whom he works regulary at the Zürich Opera (Monteverdi-Zyklus, Oratorios and Operas by G.F.Handel ). For 15 Years Jürgen Hübscher was a teacher for historical instruments of the lute and guitar-family at the «Hochschule für Musik» in Karlsruhe (Germany). Since 1997 he teaches at the «University Mozarteum» in Salzburg interpretation of early music.
